The Queen of Spades (Truth)

“You have been given the truth card, the Queen of Spades. She teaches us about a system of knowledge where ingredients and their truths are revealed. This queen shows us that there is always more to explore and master. Focus on each ingredient one at a time and move towards wholeness.  That, Admiral, is not shooting the dice; that’s shooting the moon.”

The Admiral climbs down from the studio table to return to the other roosters. As he walks from the barn back to the kitchen, the Admiral sees me just leaving the horse barn. Frustrated, he approaches me and exclaims that the roosters are no further along in finding the missing recipe than they were several hours ago. I can tell that he’s worried. It is nearly dawn and the county fair begins in just a few hours.

The Admiral says to me, “Grandma, the clues we have been getting from El Bubble are too cryptic. The only thing I can gather is there is some kind of relationship between your recipe and Farny’s paintings. I’m afraid that Farny’s paintings are going to take this fair. He has sold his soul for money and it seems impossible to beat those odds.”

“Admiral, you are much closer than you think in solving this mystery,” I say reassuringly. “There is still one more gift yet to be received. You must go back and tell Randy to go to the kitchen and then it will all make sense.”

The Admiral, with renewed hope, heads back to the other roosters. He finds them scratching about, discussing and measuring the merits of each queen. All eyes fix on the Admiral as he walks into the kitchen.
